“Academically, relationally, emotionally - we have to put ourselves back together.”Ĭampbell completed his tenure as an English teacher in 2011, when current Superintendent Eric Witherspoon promoted him to the position of director for student supports and racial equity. “We did our best, and now we have to continue to pick up the pieces,” Campbell said. He said every decision became significantly more demanding than it would have been before. He said ETHS students and staff need a sense of reassurance and a sense of family, which he hopes to provide.Ĭampbell acknowledged the challenges of working through the pandemic. Going into his tenure as superintendent, Campbell said he’s contemplating how best to move forward after what he referred to as difficult years for the district. “I’ve been here a long time, and I’m just grateful for the opportunity.” “I’m just thrilled and grateful and honored that the board feels confident to move in this direction,” Campbell said.
